2026 Intended Ballot Statement for Clarissa Cervantes for Assembly

Clarissa Cervantes
Councilmember/Businesswoman/Mother

Inland Empire families have faced countless attacks from Washington and costs are skyrocketing. Hardworking people are struggling to make ends meet while big corporations continue to rip us off. We need someone on our side.

I’m a working mom with my second child on the way, a businesswoman, and a results-driven Riverside Councilmember. I’m running for California State Assembly to stand up to special interests in Sacramento and get things done.

Born to a family with Southern California farmworker heritage, I worked on behalf of Registered Nurses after earning my college degree and ran for City Council to be a voice for underserved communities.

On the Council, I’ve fought for more affordable housing and childcare, stood up against warehouse overdevelopment and utility rate increases, strengthened public safety, and supported small businesses.

I’m ready to take action for our families and deliver results that will help people get ahead. In the Assembly, I’ll put politics aside and focus on real solutions to:

  • Expand affordable housing and make childcare free;

  • Create good-paying local jobs to reduce commuting;

  • Reduce healthcare costs;

  • Invest in public schools;

  • Protect our environment, air, and water; and

  • Ensure police and fire have the resources to keep our neighborhoods safe

I’m proud to be endorsed by California FIRE Local 2881, California Nurses Association, California Teachers Association, California Labor Federation, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, United Food and Commercial Workers, the California Democratic Party, along with Attorney General Rob Bonta, Senator Sabrina Cervantes and late civil rights leader Dolores Huerta.

I’ll take action and get results for you.
