Clarissa’s Priorities
Taking Action and Delivering Results
for the Inland Empire
“I’m running for Assembly because we need leaders who will put the Inland Empire first. On the RiversideCity Council, I’ve stood up to Trump’s attacks on California and fought to lower costs, protect our neighborhoods and democracy, and deliver real results. Now, I’m ready to take on the special interests in Sacramento that rig the system for themselves and rip us off. As a mother, I’ll focus on people-first, bipartisan solutions that ensure every person and family can build a better life, strengthening our communities and region.”
— Clarissa Cervantes
Clarissa is a working mother helping our families by working to lower costs and fighting back against Trump’s attacks on Californians.
WORKING TO EXPAND AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND
MAKE CHILDCARE MORE AFFORDABLE
Clarissa knows too many Inland Empire families are working harder than ever but still struggling with rising costs. On the City Council, she fought to make childcare more affordable and increase access to affordable housing. She will stand up to corporations that price gouge working families, cut red tape to build more affordable homes, and protect homeowners and renters from rising housing costs.
STANDING UP AGAINST UTILITY AND WATER-RATE INCREASES
AND WAREHOUSE OVERDEVELOPMENT
Clarissa thinks Sacramento should work for people—not powerful special interests. She's stood up to powerful developers and corporate interests by fighting irresponsible overdevelopment that increases traffic, pollutes our air, and threatens the health of local neighborhoods. On the City Council, Clarissa fought to stop utility rate hikes. She'll put Inland Empire communities first by standing up to special interests in Sacramento and ensuring local families have a stronger voice in their government.
STRENGTHENING WAGES AND SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF
GOOD-PAYING LOCAL JOBS
Raised in a family of farm workers and military veterans, Cervantes knows the value of hard work. On the City Council, she voted to raise wages, expanded trade training programs, and helped create hundreds of good-paying local union jobs. In the Assembly, she'll expand partnerships with local universities, fight for tuition-free community college, and invest in apprenticeships and job training to prepare more Inland Empire residents for good-paying union jobs that don't require a college degree.
FIGHTING TO HELP FAMILIES GET AHEAD BY REDUCING HEALTHCARE COSTS
Clarissa knows too many families are paying more while struggling to get the healthcare they need. She'll work to make healthcare more affordable, expand access to quality care, and make sure patients come before the profits of insurance and drug companies. That's why nurses and healthcare professionals have endorsed her—they know she'll put people first and fight for the affordable healthcare our communities deserve.
ENSURING FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE HAVE THE STAFFING AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES AND PUT OUT WILDFIRES IN OUR BACKYARDS.
Clarissa wants every family to feel safe in their home and neighborhood. As a Riverside City Councilmember, she worked directly with firefighters to update the city's wildfire mitigation plan, improved fire insurance protections for homeowners, and ensured police and firefighters had the staffing and resources to respond to emergencies. That's why local firefighters trust Clarissa to keep our communities safe and prepared when disaster strikes.
